What is Caduet?
Caduet is indicated in the following patients:
Those having increased risk of cardiovascular disease associated with two modifiable risk factors – hypertension and dyslipidemia;
Those having increased risk of cardiovascular events due to dyslipidemia and symptomatic coronary artery disease manifested by angina pectoris;
Caduet is administered for the treatment of arterial hypertension, coronary artery disease, chronic stable angina, hyperlipidemia as well as for the prevention of cardiovascular complications.
How does it work?
It is a combination drug that contains two active components – Amlodipine and Atorvastatin. Amlodipine (a calcium channel blocker) has a relaxing effect on the smooth muscles of the vessels, which causes decrease in blood pressure, reduces the load on the heart and improves the supply of oxygen to the heart. As for Atorvastatin, it reduces the production of cholesterol by the liver, which results in decreased levels of ‘bad’ cholesterol and increased levels of ‘good’ cholesterol.
